JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Danny Conley will remain locked up at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia, Florida. The 41-year-old was sentenced to indefinite civil commitment this week. The center houses violent sexual predators.
Conley was convicted of a sexual offense involving a 5-year-old girl more than 20 years ago.
After serving 18 months in prison for the sex crime, Conley was placed on probation. He violated that probation and went back to prison when he did not comply with psycho-sexual treatment conditions.
After his release, Conley was arrested and later convicted in the 1994 Attempted Second Degree Murder of a woman. Conley stabbed the woman 17 times after she refused his sexual advances. Conley was released from prison, on the Attempted Murder charge, in March 2001.
Since then, Conley has been at the commitment center. Conley refused to appear in court this week for civil proceedings regarding his release.
Victims testified and the jury decided Conley should remain committed at the facility indefinitely.
