HILLIARD MAN FOUND GUILTY OF ARMED BURGLARY

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces today that Curtis Wayne Hodges, 28, of Hilliard, was found guilty by a jury of Armed Burglary. Hodges will be sentenced as a Habitual Offender and now faces a maximum of Life in Florida State Prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled before the Honorable Mark Jeffrey Borello the first week of January.

On March 7, 2017, Hodges entered the home of the victim, who he personally knew through being friends with the victim’s daughter’s boyfriend. Once inside the residence, Hodges demanded money and then allowed two other unidentified people to enter the residence. The other two individuals began rummaging through the victim’s residence and stole two shoguns that belonged to her deceased husband. The group then fled.

Attorneys prosecuting Hodges were able to introduce Williams Rule evidence from another grand theft he was involved in, which helped corroborate the victim’s testimony.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Jessica Narducci and Chris Bateh.
