JAKUBOWSKI RECEIVES 30 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL BATTERY, OTHER CRIMES

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Travis Christopher Jakubowski, 28, of Ponte Vedra Beach, was found guilty by a jury of Armed Sexual Battery, and Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault or Battery, and sentenced to 30 years in Florida State Prison by the Honorable Linda F. McCallum. Jakubowski also has been designated a sexual predator.

On April 17, 2017, Jakubowski entered the victim’s home, where she was babysitting a 2-year-old child. Jakubowski attacked the victim — a complete stranger — with a knife and forced her into a nearby bathroom, where a struggle ensued. He then forced the victim into a bedroom, removed her clothing, and attempted to rape her. The victim fought back, but Jakubowski was still able to commit a sexual battery. He then gathered some of her belongings and fled. Neighbors of the victim were able to describe Jakubowski’s vehicle and, after his apprehension, the victim was able to identify him.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Terence Martin and Jose Musa.
