JACKSONVILLE MAN FOUND GUILTY OF ARMED ROBBERY, AGGRAVATED FLEEING
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Alejandro Antonio Perez, 22, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of two counts of Armed Burglary with a Firearm, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding. Perez now faces a maximum of Life in Florida State Prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled to be set the week of Aug. 20 by the Honorable Steven Whittington.
In March 2017, Perez and three others burglarized a home, stealing a firearm and a car. Days later, Perez and the group used the stolen car to travel to the Baymeadows area to commit robberies. One victim was robbed at gunpoint as she walked to a bus stop after finishing her shift at a restaurant. A short time later, Perez and the group robbed another victim of her cellphone, purse, and car. Both victims called 911, which led to law enforcement identifying the stolen vehicles and initiating a pursuit. Perez attempted to flee the scene after his car crashed, but he was apprehended.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Robert Culpepper and Terry Livanos.
