CARTER FOUND GUILTY OF FELONY BATTERY, DEEMED DANGER TO THE PUBLIC
State Attorney Melissa Nelson today announces that Trey Quinton Carter, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Felony Domestic Battery. Further, the jury found Carter presents a danger to the public and was previously convicted of a battery. Carter now faces a maximum of five years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Carter at a Feb. 26, 2021, hearing.
On Dec. 7, 2019, members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrived at a residence on Broadway Avenue in reference to a domestic battery. An investigation revealed the victim and Carter were in an altercation the previous evening that extended to the next day when the victim provided a ride to Carter, who proceeded to punch the victim in the face. The victim then kicked Carter out of the vehicle. The situation escalated at the victim’s residence when Carter began to slap, punch, and choke the victim. In response, the victim fired three warning shots from a handgun into a wall opposite Carter, which caused him to leave the room. After the victim returned from work later in the day, Carter was still at the residence and proceeded to again slap and choke the victim. The victim called police and Carter was arrested.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Rachel England and Alex Weaver.
