FELON IN POSSESSION OF FIREARM FOUND GUILTY
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Larry Edmond Jordan, 26, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (Actual Possession). Jordan now faces a maximum of 15 Years in Florida State Prison with a minimum mandatory of three years. A sentencing hearing is scheduled before the Honorable Linda F. McCallum on June 5, 2017.
According to court documents, testimony, and evidence presented at trial, Jordan and his girlfriend engaged in a physical disagreement that left her with facial injuries. Jordan then left their apartment and his girlfriend called several family members who arrived to console her and wait for the police. Jordan returned with a handgun and pointed it at numerous family members and threatened their lives before going upstairs to retrieve his clothing. He then departed with his grandmother, heading back to her home. Thereafter, the police arrived at Jordan’s grandmother’s home and obtained her permission to search her home, which revealed a holster besides the clothing he had just brought back from the victim’s apartment.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Mai Tran and Katharine Skinner.
