HOLMES FOUND GUILTY OF DRUG-RELATED CONSPIRACY CHARGES

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Alonzo Holmes was found guilty by a jury of Conspiracy to Sell, Manufacture, or Deliver a Controlled Substance. He now faces up to 10 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Meredith Charbula will schedule a sentencing hearing for Holmes the week of Dec. 13, 2021.

On Jan. 21, 2020, undercover detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office went to an Arlington home to initiate a drug purchase. While inside the residence, the officer observed Holmes tend to drug-buying customers and negotiate prices. After tending to other customers, Holmes engaged with the undercover detective for the purchase of $40 worth of heroin — the transaction was completed, and the undercover detective left the residence. The interaction was captured on audio and video equipment. A search warrant was later issued and executed on the home and, shortly after, Holmes was arrested by patrol officers walking near Atlantic Boulevard.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Leah Owens and Jessica Lefebvre.
