MAN FOUND GUILTY OF MAKING WRITTEN THREATS AGAINST
U.S. REP. RUTHERFORD, CHIEF JUDGE MAHON

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Kojo Karume Al-Zubair Khayrallah, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Injury and Written Threats to Conduct an Act of Terrorism. Sentencing is scheduled to be set by the Honorable Angela Cox the week of June 17, 2019.

Khayrallah was arrested June 22, 2018, after an investigation found him to have had made written threats against Fourth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Mark Mahon through the Duval County Clerk of Courts website. The investigation further led detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to find that Khayrallah made threats against U.S. Rep. John Rutherford using Facebook. After being arrested and post-Miranda, Khayrallah confessed to sending the threats.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys David Johnston and Terry Livanos.
