LOPEZ SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR WORKPLACE SHOOTING MURDER
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Ezequiel Soriano Lopez, 26, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Second-Degree Murder and sentenced to Life in Florida State Prison by the Honorable Steven B. Whittington.
On March 9, 2016, Lopez went to B&L Landscaping on the Westside, pulled a firearm, and shot his former supervisor, Andrew Little, in the ribs. The gun malfunctioned when Lopez attempted an initial second shot. Undeterred, Lopez began to beat Little in the head with the firearm. Little died from his injuries. Lopez then fled to the back of the business in his car. It was there where law enforcement took him into custody without incident — he later confessed to police. The firearm used in the crime was located on the floorboard of Lopez’s vehicle.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Alan Mizrahi and Terry Livanos.
