HONORING THOSE WE SERVE, SAO4 ANNOUNCES VICTIMS’ MEMORIAL WALL

On the heels of National Crime Victims’ Right Week, the State Attorney’s Office is designing a project
that will honor those we serve in a larger, more prominent, and permanent way.

Part of its “Strength in Support” initiative, the office is in the early stages of designing a Victimsʹ
Memorial Wall on the south side of its Duval County Office in the Ed Austin Building. In time, the nearly 74-by‑15-foot wall will be filled with pictures and stories of victims the Fourth Circuit State Attorney’s Office has served over the years.

“What now is a blank wall is actually a blank canvas,” said State Attorney Melissa Nelson. “Victims
and their families who come into our office daily pass through this hallway and soon will be able to see how those who came before them were able to find justice and some semblance of healing.”

The wall is part of the office’s Strength in Support initiative established in late 2021. The multi‑tiered
plan to improve victim services across Clay, Duval, and Nassau counties includes better public-facing resources and increased community outreach among other opportunities. It also includes the 2021 announcement of the office hiring a dedicated victim services director.
