NASSAU COUNTY MAN FACES LIFE IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL BATTERY, FALSE IMPRISONMENT

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Jeffrey Allen Weddington II, 27, of Fernandina Beach, was found guilty by a jury of Sexual Battery with Force, False Imprisonment, and Felony Battery. Weddington now faces a maximum of Life in Florida State Prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled before the Honorable Robert M. Foster on Dec. 7, 2017.

The offenses occurred Sept. 29, 2014. Weddington and his girlfriend, the victim, had been living together for a few months. After Weddington used common household items to get high, his demeanor changed. He became violent, beating and biting the victim and holding her against her will. Over the course of the evening, Weddington forced the victim into sexual acts and continued to batter her. At one point, the victim was able to run into a bathroom to use a cellphone she had hidden and contacted her parents, telling them to call the police. The victim’s parents lived nearby and rushed to the home, arriving at about the same time police did. Weddington was arrested on the scene.

The case was investigated by Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and was successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Beverly Collins and Cate Waugh.
